Who is Master Won Choi?

Master Won Choi was born in Seoul, Korea. At the age of 6, he began to take Korean Olympic Style Taekwondo lessons, and has since practiced numerous forms of martial arts and other fighting techniques. Not only did he train in Taekwondo, but Master Choi also learned Hapkido, Kyeok Too Ki (Korean Kickboxing), jiujitsu, and submission wrestling. He has become a Fifth Dan Black Belt in Korean Martial Arts, the Korean National and Korean Army Feather Weight Champion, and even an actor in the movie The Collectors (a trailer for this movie can be found on the Movie Clips page). From 1996 to 1998, Master Won Choi taught Taekwondo in the Korean Army. In 1998, he taught in Vancouver, Canada, and from 1999 to 2000 he taught in west Los Angeles and in Orange County. During 2000, he taught in India. In 2001, Master Won Choi returned to America, where he took part in the Las Vegas Tenth US Open Taekwondo Champioinship with his Korean National Team Members. He travelled all over the US for seminars and demonstrations, and finally opened his studio in Utah in 2001. In 2005, Master Choi went back to Korea to train at Kukkiwon, completing the master training course and receiving one of eight letters of rexommendation. He is the USA World Children's Taekwondo Federation President, and was awarded "Best Master of the Year" by the W.C.T.F. He now teaches authentic Korean Olympic Style Taekwondo in Orem, Utah, where his students feel the gratitude and pride that comes with learning from an official, experienced master. In fact, it is his students that head the UVSC Taekwondo Club and the BYU Martial Arts Club. We owe it all to Master Choi.
